Configurable Auditing Interceptor for Hibernate

If Hibernate provides a configurable audit log function, that would be very nice. Think if we can do this:

In Hibernate.properties:
hibernate.audit_log=true

In Entity definition:
@column(audit="true")
public String name;

Then Hibernate will log the changes for the specified columns.
